Things are Happening in 2022
Have you started writing down your big goals for 2022 yet? Me either. Perhaps this blog post is the kick in the butt I need to do just that. Here are some tips I'm giving myself that maybe will help you too.
Write them down: Thoughts about my 2022 goals sure have been swirling around in my mind. I just need to take a minute to organize these ideas and write them down. Have you ever made a vision board? Now might be the time to explore that.
Baby steps: Sometimes big goals are great and worth shooting for and other times they seem so far out of reach that we don't know where to begin. Pressure to maintain a lifestyle change for a whole year can seem daunting. A big goal can seem so far out of reach that it's unachievable. What I like to do is to not lose sight of these big goals, but first pick apart that goal. What small changes can I make today that will lead me closer to that goal? Just 1 or 2 of them is all you need. Give yourself a few weeks (or longer) to make those changes and then consider adding another one.
Be held accountable: Announce your goals to the world, right? WRONG. Did you know that telling everyone your goals may make you LESS likely to achieve them? Yep, see here. You may be better off referring back to number 1 (writing them down instead and hold yourself accountable). Working with a specific coach one-on-one who can help you fine-tune your goals and give you direction isn't a bad idea either.
Re-evaluate often: Refer back often to your written goals and/or vision board and re-evaluate often. Maybe you thought that running 3x/week would be a great way to up your health game. But you know what? Two months in you realize you HATE running. Now you know it's not for you. Rather than give up on your fitness all together, make a new plan and keep moving forward. It's more than ok to make changes and adjustments throughout the year. These are YOUR goals, so YOU get to decide what's working and what's important to you.
We've probably all heard similar tips to what I've described. They sound simple enough, but we know change can be hard. If tackling your PCOS is on your 2022 goal list and you would like some direction, schedule a free phone call with me here. Can't wait to chat!
